MY STORY

As the daughter of an educator (dad) and a therapist (mom), you could say my career as a school counselor was written in the stars. For twenty-six years, my greatest joy was in helping my students overcome obstacles, reach the goals they set, and celebrate their achievements. In order to keep giving my best at work, like many people, I would look for ways to recharge and regenerate in my off-time.

As self-care became an important part of this renewal process, I grew more mindful of what I was putting in and on my body. I became more aware of the ingredients in many of the products I was using and started researching cleaner alternatives.  As a long time migraine sufferer, through this process I also discovered that synthetic fragrance was a huge trigger for me so I became especially interested in essential oils.

I set out to formulate a line of small-batch, high-quality, multi-sensory products that are effective, affordable, and most importantly, free of harmful chemicals.

Out of that was born 28 Litsea. When creating products, I am drawn to ingredients that awaken the senses and evoke feelings of well-being. Litsea [ lit - see - ah] is an essential oil known for its bright citrus scent and energizing traits. I was immediately attracted to this oil, not only for its cleansing qualities, but for its ability to bring out the best in other ingredients. This positive, uplifting and versatile oil embodies everything this brand represents. The 28 Litsea name is a tribute to my father who inspired and encouraged me throughout my life.

At 28 Litsea, we believe that clean beauty is just one component of whole body wellness. What you put on your skin is just as important as what you feed your body internally, and the thoughts and energy with which you surround yourself. My goal is to create products that will inspire you to embrace clean beauty and incorporate positive self-care rituals into your everyday life.
